Kansas City Chiefs Acknowledge Domestic Violence Claims Connected to Wide Receiver the Athlete
The NFL franchise released a comment on Wednesday evening confirming they have knowledge of claims of abuse made public in social media posts by a ex-partner of player Rashee Rice and were in communication with the league office.
The organization omitted the name of the player by name in their announcement and said they would have “no further comment at this time”.
Claims Shared on Social Media
The woman, who likewise did not name Rice directly, shared a series of photos on Instagram that seemed to depict indicators of bodily harm. She stated the person involved was the parent of her kids, and reports indicate she has two children with Rice, whom the Chiefs drafted in the 2023 draft.

No official complaints were available in the Kansas City suburb where the incident is said to have taken place.
Rice's Prior Off-Field Troubles
Rice was absent for the initial part of this season following an league-mandated ban for his involvement in causing a multi-vehicle accident on a Texas roadway that resulted in multiple people injured. He was given a month of incarceration and probationary supervision after entering a guilty plea to felony charges.
On the field, Rice finished the year with 53 receptions for 571 yards and five touchdowns as the Kansas City went 6-11 and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first time in a ten-year span.
