Homages Continue for the Reiners as Medical Examiner's Findings Face a Security Hold.
Over a fortnight following the shocking loss of celebrated film director Rob Reiner and his partner, photographer Michele Reiner, friends and colleagues continue to honor the pair.
A Heartfelt Farewell: Cary Elwes Pays Tribute to His Director
Writing on Instagram, actor Cary Elwes, who starred in Reiner's iconic movie *The Princess Bride*, mentioned he only now felt able to express about his personal sorrow.
"Adequate time has elapsed that I can finally articulate my loss into words," shared Elwes, noting that his initial encounter with Reiner made him fall in love. "When we commenced sharing more moments together I knew this was someone I wanted in my life."
The actor uploaded never-before-seen clips from the movie, commenting that he cannot recall "one day without mirth".
"This story is about love, loyalty and sacrifice. Principles that Rob cherished deeply. Which is among the many reasons he was the perfect person to guide it," Elwes wrote.
He also paid tribute Michele Reiner, noting: "Claiming that they were a great team would be an oversimplification. My heart still aches every time I remember you." He concluded with a phrase from *The Princess Bride*: "Sure, death cannot stop true love but living is anguish without you."
Martin Scorsese Reflects on a Friend and Collaborator
In a different tribute, revered director Martin Scorsese paid homage to Reiner, whom he first met in the 1970s.
"From the start, I loved being with Rob. We had a natural affinity for each other. He was very funny and sometimes acutely humorous, but he was never the kind of guy who would take over the room," Scorsese said.
Scorsese highlighted Reiner's cameo appearance in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, embodying the father of the main character.
"He was skilled at improv with the best. He was a master at comedy, he worked seamlessly with his co-stars, and he understood the human predicament of his character," Scorsese wrote.
Judicial Actions: Autopsy Reports Sealed
Recently, a Los Angeles court official ruled to bar the release of the Reiners' medical examiner's reports, after an appeal from the local authorities.
A legal directive put a restriction on the cases to restrict the public release of "any investigative information, evidence and photographs" pertaining to the ongoing investigation.
The coroner's office had previously confirmed their deaths were the result of foul play, with a official listing listing the cause as "wounds from an edged weapon".
Response and Criticism
Following the deaths, public individuals expressed different comments.
Former President Donald Trump commented on the matter, offering provocative remarks that were met with immediate backlash by many individuals.
Podcaster Joe Rogan lent his perspective to the those speaking out recently. Talking on his podcast, Rogan described the statements as "disappointing" and remarked they demonstrated a worrisome deficiency of sympathy.
Rogan ended by remarking that an associate should have stepped in when the decision to comment on the tragedy was made.
